Monday Madness and More

Monday is usually a hectic day for me in terms of household chores. The house is in disarray in so many ways since its the day after a weekend when dad and son play rough; time when we shop for food and other necessities; newspaper day and eating out day. Every nook and cranny of the kitchen and family room have toys. Most of the grocery are still on the kitchen floor or counters not to mention the week's mail resting on the island. Some food-to-go containers and napkins are still on the counter. Oh they are so overwhelming to the sight since I'm so used to keeping things in order.

I want to do things simultaneously and I multi-task a lot, even if there is a little tot following me around like a shadow, lol. Michael is always fascinated in everything I do. He used to push me away from my chores, especially from the kitchen sink, stove or island when I'm busy prepping a meal. But now, he grabs a stool and stand on it to see what I'm up to and tries to help me, or so he thinks, lol. Wherever I look, my son is there like a bad dream haunting me, lol. He wraps himself around my legs, rides on my feet when I walk around and pull my arms when I'm on the computer.

Getting things done around the house is doubly hard and doubly exhausting for me. But there are a lot of upsides to this madness. Michael seems to pick up from my neatness and organization, he always points us to things that are not in order. He picks up tissue or paper from the floor and throws them in the garbage. He gets the duster and tries to clean the kitchen floor. When my husband hangs his coat in the closet with the tip of a sleeve sticking out of the door, he would make a lot of noises pointing his dad to the closet to fix it, isn't that funny? The consolation of knowing my son is learning from observing and being nosy of sort is worth the exhaustion and madness of Monday.

  1. Hemmo Mira,I can relate to your post, having a child makes household chores more difficult to be done, parati silang nasa likod natin, sunod ng sunod kahit saan at ikakalat lahat ng toys nila sa lahat ng parte ng bahay.Hay,bb ko nga ganyan din.
