Morning Shocker

Yesterday was garbage day and I got so lazy to get the empty recyclable and garbage bins back to the garage. I went out about mid morning today to get the bins and I was surprised to see large holes dug on the ground where the mailbox is standing. I have flowers planted around the mailbox with hostas on each side, and most of them were dug out too. The dirt was everywhere but I couldn't see paw prints around it. I was wondering what kind of animal could have done such a thing. Hb said it should be a dog, but I don't see dogs roaming around the neighborhood without anybody walking them. This is a real puzzle to me, hmmm, I guess I should start snooping around to see who the culprit was.
