The last time I talked to my mom on the phone, she was telling me about how high gas prices somewhat have a positive effect on Philippine situation in general. Some people with private vehicles are economizing and just use public transport to go to work and therefore has eased the traffic a little bit. What a great scenario isn't it? Well to make the scenario even better, less traffic means less smogs too. Then there was a report that the government is thinking of adding more MRT trains to accommodate a lot of commuters. This is another good news, that should have been done a long time ago. The government should have just thought about improving public transport instead of constructing skyways to accommodate increasing vehicles traveling on the road. If only we have good public transportation then who needs to buy private vehicles right? It's not that I'm praying for gas prices to stay the way they are, but if people will continue to just commute using 'better' public transportation, maybe traveling in Manila will become a happy experience.
