Have you seen The Wedding Singer movie? My favorite line there was when Adam Sandler's ex-fiance came to his house to apologize for calling off the wedding on the day itself, he screamed "this should have been brought to my attention before the wedding!", something like that ;-). Oh well men and women beware, you may be sued for calling off your wedding, take the case of Rosemary Shell. She sued her ex-fiance for breach of promise to marry when he left her a note in their bathroom saying he wanted to postpone the wedding, and she was awarded $150,000! She said she left a high-paying job in Pensacola primarily because her ex-fiance made a promise to marry her, and she relied on that promise and gave up a lot of things, and she suffered significantly for it. This case will definitely set a precedent and people who will not follow through with their promise may be held accountable for damages that their promise will cause to the other party. So be careful about asking "will you marry me?" and replying "yes!".
