It Made Me Appreciate The Small Stuff

I started the day busy as usual and when I got the chance to sit down and watch my favorite morning show Good Morning America, I couldn't help but cry in one of their featured segments. It's about a young woman Jessica Stone, faced with a critical choice of choosing between her life or her hearing. There is a tumor pressing down her brain stem and the surgery she needs to remove that tumor will save her life but will take away her hearing forever. She had 30 days before the surgery and she recorded all the sounds around her that she will never hear anymore - the splashing wave in the beach, the bark of her dog, the sound from her bongo and her favorite song called "All We Are" by Matt Nathanson. This song is so meaningful and it is how she practiced her sign language with. Jessica Stone's story is so touching it really made me cry, it made me appreciate every bit of myself and the small stuff.
