David Beat Goliath - Congratulations Pacquiao

If you are a Filipino, here's one reason to be proud again. Our fellow Filipino, the good little boxer Manny Pacquiao beat the good big boxer Oscar dela Hoya. Pacquiao dominated the game, he outboxed dela Hoya as he danced around the ring. I thought that dela Hoya was just trying to downplay the game and will sneak a left hook punch but it never came. He looked very old and tired. He had no match to the very fast Pacquiao. I think that this will be dela Hoya's last game, he's old and should retire his gloves already.

Anyway, I'm not really a big fan of boxing, in fact I don't enjoy watching it. I cringe and cover my eyes every time somebody is punched on the face, so what's there to watch? But this match was a different thing, I was excited as I waited for the match to start, mybe because I was rooting for my home team. Actually our friend invited us to their house to watch the match on PayPerView channel. Everybody in the room was predicting dela Hoya will win because he was bigger and stronger. But I was so optimistic that Pacquiao will beat him because he's younger and faster. Just from their demeanor alone while they were walking to the ring as they were introduced, Pacquiao was all smile, calm and confident while dela Hoya looked very stressed and tensed. I knew right there that Pacquiao has a very good chance of winning and he did.

When Pacquiao started throwing punches on the first two rounds, I felt like I was watching a baseball game. I was on my toes cheering and screaming. It was a very good fight. I didn't think I will love boxing, I guess I'm now a boxing fan. Congratulations again Manny Pacquiao, thanks for making us proud!

  3. @ Bryan - I agree with you. This is one of the sports that Pinoys excel at.

@ Lanie - I didn't really want to watch it on PPP because it cost $55. Good thing our friend called and invited us to their house to watch the game. Yeah it was very late, there were 3 matches before the main event. We went home at past 1am, but we had fun.

  4. Dana and I watched the fight too, live. Like all Pinoys around the world, I'm so proud of Manny. And ofcourse, Dana was all praises for Pacman, in fact, last night, he couldn't take his eyes off the screen, rooting for him fight against Dela Hoya. He knew and always believed that Manny will win!
